Several former players have filed a class action suit against Ohio State University claiming mental anguish, defamation of character, and loss of future earnings because of damaged reputation. The suit was in response to Ohio State losing the National Championship to LSU on Monday.
"I mean, how can we show our faces in public after a beat down like that," says Jack Tatum who was on the 1968 Buckeye championship team. "We won it. How hard could it be? The little shits just don't know what they are doing out there."
According to 1995 Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George, "...this makes it tough for me. I'm trying to make a living here and they go out and fuck it all up."
When asked for a comment, Head Coach Jim Tressel responded, "Shut the fuck up. That's a stupid fucking question," before storming off.
Says Kirk Herbstreit, Buckeye quarterback 1989-1993, "I'm afraid for my job." Adding, "It's really scary right now. I was watching the game with my boss and hoped to get a big raise when we won. Now he's been having secret interviews with [former LSU players] David LaFleur and [Eddie] Kennison all week."
Besides financial restitution from the university, the suit would also prohibit players from the 2006 season and beyond from no longer emphasizing "the" when saying "The Ohio State University".
