Tiebreakers; Let's finish this up.

Post by wolfe »

I went through the previous posts and (ignoring all the bullshit posts) I came up with the following suggestions from people who have actually taken this seriously.

Here's my proposal. Suggest your amendments and we'll start voting on it later this week.

Tie Condition
1. - Ties in the Regular Season will remain as ties and will not be broken.
2. - If a game ends in a Tie in the final round of a Championship Bracket game (Week 16), meaning a game where prize money is involved, the total prize money will be split giving 50% for each team owner. Draft order for the following year will be determined by the Tiebreakers listed below.
3. - Post Season games that end in a Tie in the first round of any post-season bracket will use the Tiebreakers listed below to determine how teams will advance in the bracket.

Tiebreakers
1st - Total Touchdowns scored by all fantasy starters.
2nd - Total Sacks by all fantasy starters.
3rd - Total Offensive yards by all fantasy starters.
4th - Total Tackles by all fantasy starters (assisted tackles will count as a half tackle)
5th - Coin Flip

i think total offensive yards should be #1...
it is the most likely to not be a tie....
I DONT WANT TO SPLIT THE MONEY WITH ANYONE!!!

if we use offense then it will reward offensive players.

i win on defense so this would not work for teams like mine.

i think we should go by total td's that way at least the defense might accidentally get a td.

i'm still not exactly sure, so everyone should voice their opinion

That brings up a good point.
Is the tiebreaker supposed to 'reward' a certain strength of a team?
Or is the tiebreaker supposed to resolve the outcome of the game as clearly as possible?

Since ties happen so rarely (only 1 in the combined 8 years for both leagues) I think the tiebreaker should decide the outcome of the game as quickly as possible. Meaning, I hope all ties could be broken on the 1st tiebreaker and not use the 2nd, 3rd or 4th tiebreaker.
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

Whoever finishes higher in the BCS should go to the SEC championship game.
You better get on your knees and pray...Sheffield and Gainesboro are on the way.
