2008 NFL Rule changes

Post by wolfe »

Yeah! The "force out" rule is gone! Now receivers have to get two feet down - under (almost) any circumstance - for it to be a catch. That's one less subjective rule for people to yell/complain/argue/whine about.

No more 5-yard facemask. Now only the serious "twisting or grabbing" facemask will be called.

And they added field goals to the list of reviewable plays.

Kudos to Fisher and the competition committee for fixing some of these rules.

Hopefully they won't pass that crazy playoff reseeding idea. What's the point of having divisions if the division winner is ignored?

And leave the players hair alone. Who cares about hair hanging outside the helmet?
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

Advertisers and old people.
I'm not cheating. I'm just trying to get away with stuff.

Conformist...how about some opposing views!?!

I think they should give the wild card team that goes 12-4 the home playoff game over the shitty team that wins their division at 8-8 :bash:

I think as long as teams play a division schedule that they should keep that "division winner" special above the other non-division winners in the conference. What if the division winner has the 7th best record in the conference? Would you support the idea of keeping them out of the playoff because 6 other teams had better records?

What about when 7-8 teams in one conference are better than the top 6 in the other conference (which happens almost every year)? Would you support reseeding across conferences so that the best 12 records in the league make the playoffs?
The rules are fair. The regulations are fair.

I never stated that and neither did the owners  The division winners will always be in the playoffs, but just because they won their division does not mean they deserve a home game over a team in a tougher division with a better record!

I will miss the "force out" rule. That's a shame.
You better get on your knees and pray...Sheffield and Gainesboro are on the way.

Not me! It takes away a referee's speculation and it is also good to finally see a rule that helps the defense!!!
